Aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney invests up to $100 mln in Morocco

World leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units, Pratt & Whitney, invested $100 million in a plant that underscores the development of the aeronautical industry in the country.

The 120,000 m2 plant will be ready in 12 months and would employ 200 people, Morocco’s industry ministry said.

Pending the site’s completion, the manufacturers will be training highly qualified staff in Morocco, l’Economiste reported.

Morocco’s aerospace industry sector has 142 companies employing 20,000 people with a total output of $2 billion.

It has a local sourcing rate of 40% and has been posting a growth rate of 20% over the last four years, according to the industry group GIMAS.
