Abidjan to host AfDB’s 5th Africa Resilience Forum on October 3-5

Côte d’Ivoire’s economic hub Abidjan will host on October 3-5, the African Development Bank Group’s fifth Africa Resilience Forum, a summit to explore innovative solutions to fill the financing gaps for African countries experiencing conflict and facing increasing insecurity.

“The event will also advance discussion on how to mobilize resources at scale at the nexus of peace, development, and security, channel them to the public and private sectors, and build effective partnerships for this purpose,” the Abidjan-based financial lender added.

This year’s edition is placed under the theme: ‘Financing Security, Peace and Development for a Resilient Africa’. The sessions will address several topics including “The Case for Linking Humanitarian, Development, Peace, and Security Financing”, “Scaling-up Investments for Trade and Food Security”, “Investing in Women and Gender Equality to Build Resilience” and “Financing Durable Solutions for Forced Development.”

The gathering, the bank also notes, is an opportunity to present its latest thinking on the fragility and resilience agenda and share some of the new initiatives being taken forward under the Bank’s new strategy for addressing fragility and building resilience in Africa (2022-2026).

The biennial forum brings together policymakers and practitioners from humanitarian, development, peace, and security communities, across the public and private sectors, including investors, academia, think tanks and civil society.
