Senegal: Cheikh Issa Sall named new CEO of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations

Senegal’s President Macky Sall has appointed on September 14 Cheikh Issa Sall, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Municipal Development Agency as the new head of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations after firing the Chief of the financial institution Mame Boye Diao, few moments after the latter unveiled his plans to run for next year’s presidential elections under the banner of “Coalition d’un Sénégal nouveau,” a political movement he has just launched.

Issa Sall is a trained magistrate and an international relations and finance graduate. He was appointed CEO of the Municipal Development Agency in 2015.

He also occupied multiple State positions between 2007 and 2012, few years after his graduation from the National School of Administration and Magistracy. The positions included Chief of staff of the Ministries of Health, Senegalese Abroad and Labor and Professional Organizations.

Issal Sall is also the mayor of the coastal city of Mbour under the banner of ruling “Alliance pour la République (APR)”.

President Sall removed in a decree on Tuesday Diao who was also a key figure of the APR party before he launched “Coalition d’un Sénégal nouveau.”
