A Sunday September 3 terrorist attack targeting a police checkpoint in the town of Dialakoroba near capital Bamako caused injuries to one police officer and two civilians, the Malian army indicated in a Facebook statement, adding that the Police forces repelled the attack.

The incident occurred at dawn in Koulikoro region, east of capital Bamako. The forces positioned at the checkpoint fought back fiercely and vigorously, then defeated the terrorists, the statement indicated.

One terrorist was shot dead in the push-back. The West African country has been since 2012 joggling with terrorism and insecurity. The vast, poor, and landlocked country is plunged into a deep security, political, and humanitarian crisis. It is ruled by a junta following two military coups in 2020 and 2021.

The violence is carried out by armed groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group, but also by self-proclaimed militias and bandits.
