French “Gustave Roussy National Cancer Institute” to develop public hospitals in Egypt

Egypt’s Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of understanding Wednesday August 9 with French Gustave Roussy National Cancer Institute to upgrade and raise the standards of Egyptian public hospitals, “Ahram Online” reports.

The MoU will, according to the ministry, improve the quality and efficiency of public health facilities and enhance public-private partnerships in the sector. The French institute’s contribution is expected to pump new investments into the health sector and strengthen the presence of the private sector in the Egyptian market.

In a separate deal between the three sides, Dar El Salam-Hermel Cancer Center in Cairo will transition into a branch of the French institute in Egypt. The ministry and Gustave Roussy National Cancer Institute also agreed to form a series of strategic partnerships, cooperating on capacity-building initiatives and supporting human resources working in health, sustaining Egypt’s initiatives in the healthcare sector, and partnering for joint clinical and scientific research.

They equally will develop a strategic partnership to train and educate health workers.
