Morocco re-elected to UNESCO’s IOC Executive Council for 2023-2025 Term
Morocco was unanimously re-elected to the Executive Council of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) for the period 2023-2025, during the 32nd session’s elections of the IOC Assembly at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
This re-election reflects once again the international community’s acknowledgment of Morocco’s active role and commitment to global affairs under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI, according to a statement by Morocco’s permanent delegation to UNESCO.
Morocco’s re-election demonstrates its dedication to intergovernmental cooperation in various areas within the Commission’s expertise, including marine research, conservation, protection of the marine environment, risk mitigation, capacity building, and development, the statement said.
This commitment is also part of the kingdom’s efforts to achieve the objectives of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), and to implement the priorities outlined in the Ocean Decade Africa Roadmap.
