US First Lady Jill Biden arrives in Morocco
The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, arrived in Marrakech this Saturday afternoon for a visit to Morocco, part of a tour that already took her to Jordan and Egypt.
Upon her arrival at Marrakech-Ménara Airport, Jill Biden was welcomed by Princess Lalla Hasnaa, King Mohammed VI’s sister.
The US First Lady, who is accompanied on this visit by her daughter Ashley Biden and her sister Bobby Jacobs, will meet with women and youth focusing on U.S. investments that help support education programs and efforts to increase economic opportunity.
As her spokesperson tweeted on the eve of this trip “With her visit to the Middle East and North Africa, the First Lady will continue to build on her work to empower young people, and reaffirm our commitment to strengthen our partnerships and advance our shared priorities in the region.”
“The first lady believes that supporting young people around the world is essential to our shared future, with education, health and empowerment at the heart of it,” her spokeswoman, Vanessa Valdivia, said, adding that the first lady will also promote the empowerment of women.
