Morocco condemns repeated Israeli provocative actions in Jerusalem
Morocco condemned in the strongest terms the recent provocative acts in Jerusalem triggered by the incursion of an Israeli minister who entered once again the Al Aqsa mosque compound.
“Such acts have become repeated and provocative,” said Morocco’s foreign minister Nasser Bourita at a press conference in Rabat.
Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem and declared Israel “in charge”, drawing condemnation from Palestinians after months of escalating tension and violence.
These violations have been internationally condemned as they stoke tensions and undermine peace prospects, he said.
The minister reiterated Morocco’s position in favor of a negotiated peaceful solution based on the two-state solution with an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also called for an end to such provocations that only feed extremism and ignite violence in the region.
