Tindouf: Polisario leader caught red-handed diverting fuel

As if the embezzlement of human assistance destined to the Tindouf camps populations was not enough, the Polisario leaders also set eye on fuel as evidenced by the recent interception of a truck carrying fuel diverted by a Polisario leader.

Young Saharawis have actually intercepted, at the exit of the Tindouf camps, a fuel tank truck diverted by a Polisario leader and intended for illegal sale at the border with Mauritania. The militias of the separatist movement intervened in an attempt to cover up this diversion, but their effort was vain as the incident was video-filmed.

The fuel diversion was led by Salem Labsir, a so-called minister and Brahim Ghali’s close aide, who was caught red-handed in the act of embezzling a large shipment of fuel destined for illegal sale at the Algerian-Mauritanian border. He was caught by young Sahrawis not far from the Tindouf camps.

An imposing detachment of the Polisario gendarmerie was deployed on the orders of the separatist leadership to try to recover this tanker and its cargo of fuel. The Polisario feared that angry young Sahrawis would set fire to or dump stolen fuel in the middle of the desert in the wake of the strong protests that have been taking place since the beginning of this year and the re-election of Brahim Ghali as leader of the separatist movement.

The young Sahrawis who carried out this operation in the middle of the desert filmed the scene. At the same time, they launched a video call to the Sahrawis in the camps, showing them the interception of the cargo which they say was “stolen as usual” and the intervention in force “aiming to intimidate us”, carried out by the so-called “public forces” or “gendarmerie” of the separatists.

About fifteen all-terrain vehicles and dozens of elements of the separatist militias were deployed on the spot to protect the truck and allow it to continue its way to Mauritania.

The young Sahrawis who caught their “leaders” in the act of stealing affirm that they carried out this action in order to show that these thieves and ignorant people do not want a solution for the Sahrawis in the camps. “All they want is to continue stealing and filling their pockets at the expense of the camps populations. We no longer accept this situation. We are ready to sacrifice ourselves to put an end to this situation and regain our freedom,” the young Sahrawis said.

Analysts say that a new era has started in the Tindouf camps, whose heroes are the residents of these camps, after nearly half a century of waiting for the international community and relying on it to end their suffering on Algerian soil, and after long years of siege, injustice, killing, theft of aid and starvation, without the slightest international intervention.

After thousands of letters and complaints to humanitarian organizations, after demonstrations and protests that did not prompt these organizations to stop supporting the Polisario gang, the Sahrawis started a new form of struggle, in a battle to regain their rights. They organized themselves in groups according to categories and ages to expose the Polisario gang. Some groups worked to prevent the exchange of power between Polisario officials, other groups prevented the organization of polisario activities and events in a number of states.

Meanwhile, a group of young people decided to investigate the ways of smuggling humanitarian assistance and fuel from the camps by the polisario gangs. And one of these investigations led to the interception of the fuel truck owned by Salem Labsir.

Salem Lebsir, author of this fuel diversion, is none other than the same man who accompanied Benbatouche during his incredible secret entry into Spain in 2021 to be treated for Covid, before his hasty flight back to Algeria under pressure as he was facing complaints before the Spanish courts for rape, genocide, assassinations, torture…
