Egypt to launch digital platform for foreign investors to establish firms on July 1st

Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) will launch a digital platform that enables investors to establish their companies online on July 1st, the authority’s Chief Executive Officer announced Thursday.

Hossam Heiba made the announcement as he met with Swiss ambassador in Cairo, Vonne Bauman.

The Authority is adopting mechanisms for dialogue between the public and private sectors by holding sectoral forums, in the presence of all stakeholders from local and foreign companies and concerned government agencies, to address any challenges facing the growth of sectors and put in place mechanisms to accelerate development, Heiba said, noting that industrial sector forums had already been held.

The North African country according to the GAFI Chief has huge investment opportunities in the health, education, automotive industry, pharmaceutical industries, food industries, logistics, communication and information technology sectors, which are highly attractive to the Swiss side.

Some 80 Swiss companies are operating in Egypt in various sectors and the European country is among the top 10 investors in Egypt, according to the Swiss diplomat.
