Morocco lifts travel restrictions on visitors coming from China

Morocco lifted entry restrictions imposed on travelers coming from China as of April 5, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Rabat said in a statement released this Friday.

In January and in view of the massive surge in Covid-19 cases in the Asian country, Morocco announced that only passengers who leave the People’s Republic of China and stay in a third country for 7 days can enter Morocco, regardless of their nationality.

Many countries had imposed travel bans on people coming from China, decisions slammed as discriminatory by the Asian country which warned of strict countermeasures.

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs then said that “this exceptional measure does not in any way affect the strong friendship and the strategic partnership between the two countries, to which the Kingdom remains firmly attached.”

Now, all visitors coming from China could access Moroccan territory with no bans or restrictions.
