Sahrawi Movement for Peace warns against Polisario’s upcoming wave of repression in Dakhla camp

The Sahrawi Movement for Peace (SMP) denounced on Monday the aggression perpetrated by Polisario elements against members of the family of Haj Ahmed Barikallah, first secretary of the MSP in the camp known as Dakhla, in Algeria, alerting against a wave of repression in this camp.

In letters addressed to the European Parliament and the European Union External Service, as well as to various Spanish political parties and international organizations, Haj Ahmed Barikallah condemned the attacks on his relatives and the climate of intimidation which prevails in the Dakhla camp.

This camp witnessed, last Thursday, riots provoked by the excessive use of force by the Polisario militias against relatives of the SMP first secretary, during which his niece, Hassina Salem Ahmed, and his uncle, Buh Habub, were injured.

The following day, the Polisario started deploying a large number of its militias in the Dakhla camp, and it is not excluded that a wave of arrests and repression against the population of the camp will be unleashed in the coming hours, underlines the SMP in a statement.

Haj Ahmed Barikallah called for the intervention of the European institutions to investigate the facts, while denouncing the intolerance and hate speech that the Polisario Front circulates among the refugees.

For Haj Ahmed Barikallah, the Polisario Front, by its totalitarian nature, continues, at this stage, to exercise authority as a single party in the refugee camps outside the role of international bodies and the laws of the host state, Algeria.
