A Moroccan killed in Doha building collapse
The Moroccan embassy in Qatar has confirmed the death of a Moroccan national after a four-story building collapsed on Wednesday in Doha’s Bin Durham neighborhood.
Qatari Interior ministry said the search & rescue teams pulled seven survivors from the rubble, while the one person killed was inside the building at the time of the collapse.
No immediate explanation has been offered for the building’s collapse but an investigation has been launched.
Maintenance work was ongoing in the building at the time of the collapse, local authorities said, noting that appropriate measures have been taken to check whether those in charge of the maintenance work possessed the required permits.
The investigation will determine if their actions had any role in the building’s collapse.
