Club World Cup opening ceremony: a fantastic blend of heritage, values, passion

The Club World Cup tournament opened, Wednesday in Tangier, to the rhythm of a breathtaking and colorful show, highlighting a diverse Morocco, old-age, modern, open, hospitable and passionate about football.

The opening ceremony of this edition, held from February 1 to 11 in Tangier and Rabat, was highlighted by choreographies, songs and music and images linking the past and the present and reflecting the beauty of Morocco’s nature, architecture and hospitality.

Among the highlights of the evening was a rhythmic folkloric show with a modern touch that took the audience on a fascinating journey through different regions of Morocco.

Using different colors, themes, and features, the opening ceremony focused on Morocco’s openness as well as the cultural diversity in the North African country.

The show featured different genres of Moroccan music, including Amazigh, Sahrawi, Ganaoua, Ahidous, as well as other folklore-style music from Morocco’s 12 regions.

The opening ceremony of the FIFA Club World Cup has been commended by a number of A-list of celebrities and public figures, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who described the opening ceremony as “fantastic”.

“Amazing venues, the best teams and I look forward to seeing some fantastic games in the coming days,” he said.

The passion for football was strongly emphasized, with a return in images on the scenes of jubilation of the Moroccan public in reaction to the Atlas Lions’ performance during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The highlight of this moment of nostalgia was the appearance on stage of the national coach Walid Regragui, the surprise guest of the evening, warmly welcomed by the public.

The organizers of this opening ceremony also paid a posthumous tribute to the legend Pele, who died in late 2022.

FIFA also celebrated Morocco’s opening ceremony by sharing pictures from the live event.

Morocco organizes the Mondialito for the third time, after the 2013 edition that saw the Raja of Casablanca reach the final (defeated 2-0 against Bayern Munich) and that of 2014, which saw the participation of the Moghreb of Tetouan, as champion of Morocco.
