Morocco: Some 70k e-visa applications processed in six months
The Moroccan Foreign Ministry has processed about 70,000 applications for electronic visas (e-visa) in six months, said Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baïtas.
At a press briefing held after the Government council’s weekly meeting Thursday, Baïtas brought up the decision to allow new countries to benefit from the “e-visa”, explaining that the e-visa procedure has helped increase the number of visitors to the Kingdom.
Given the high demand for this type of visa six months after its launch, it was decided to allow other nationalities to benefit from it, and this as part of the gradual expansion of this system to cover more countries, said the government spokesman.
The Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that nationals of Jordan, India, Guatemala and Azerbaijan will benefit from the e-visa to visit Morocco from 10 January 2023.
This decision comes within the framework of efforts made by the Kingdom, nationally and internationally, aimed at the digitization of public administration services, especially those related to consular action at the level of Moroccan diplomatic and consular missions.
