Macky Sall earns Golden Plate Award for action towards Senegal, Africa
Senegal’s President Macky Sall was presented Tuesday the Golden Plate Award by the American Academy of Achievement in recognition of his actions towards his country and the African continent.
The Senegalese leader dedicated the award to his country and the African continent, state-run news agency of the Western African country reports.
“I would like to thank the American Academy of Achievement for the Golden Plate Award it presented to me on December 12 in recognition of my work for Senegal and Africa. I dedicate this distinction to the Senegalese people and to our continent,” the African leader said on Twitter.
He was presented the award in Washington, where he is due to take part in the US-Africa Leaders Summit, hosted by Presifdent Joe Biden.
Established in 1961, the Academy of Achievement brings young leaders face-to-face with the extraordinary visionaries and pioneers who have helped shape the world.
It has awards for multiple categories. This year honorees also include American Entrepreneur and Philanthropist Phillip T. (Terry) Ragon; Director-General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and Turkish billionaire Hamdi Ulukaya, Founder and Chairman of Chobani.
