Gabon, Guinea-Bissau ink two cooperation deals to bolster ties
Gabon and Guinea Bissau signed Wednesday two cooperation agreements spanning consultation on political and diplomatic matters, as both countries move to strengthen ties, the central African country announced.
The signing came during a visit of Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the Guinea Bissau leader to his Gabonese counterpart Ali Bongo Ondimba.
“The legal framework for cooperation between Gabon and Guinea Bissau has been strengthened with the signing of two new agreements, one on political and diplomatic consultations, the other on the general framework for cooperation,” the office of President Ali Bongo said.
“We have just signed two agreements to strengthen the cooperation ties between our two countries. Gabon is a brother country of Guinea-Bissau, we have always had diplomatic relations,” the visiting leader also said.
Embalo also on Twitter indicated that during his visit the foreign ministries of both countries signed agreements “to strengthen the bilateral relations between Gabon and Guinea-Bissau”.
Discussions between the two leaders, according to the chair of the ECOWAS, revolved around agriculture, training, economic exchanges, fishing and industry.
