Egypt: US Honeywell company to transform government institutions into smart buildings
US-based Honeywell International Inc. will convert the new building of the South Sinai Governorate General Assembly, and Sharm El Sheikh Hospital building into sustainable smart buildings, under a MoU signed on the sidelines of the ongoing COP27 climate summit taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The purpose of the MoU is to achieve the highest efficiency rates and reduce gas waste rates.
Per the agreement, the American publicly traded, multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, will run a pilot model in Sharm El-Sheikh by transforming the new building of the South Sinai Governorate General Assembly and Sharm El-Shaikh Hospital into sustainable smart buildings relying on modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence and data analytics.
Also per the deal, “the possibility of generalizing smart building technology to various Egyptian government institutions will be studied in the light of the output and results of the implementation of the demo model of the project in Sharm El-Sheikh, to increase efficiency and reduce energy waste, ensuring its sustainable digital operational excellence,” the government said in a statement. “It will contribute to the creation of a business model that is in line with the global trend towards green transformation, reducing carbon emissions by adopting eco-friendly technology,” it added.
