Russia will send fertilizers, wheat, petroleum products worth $100m to Mali

Mali announced Wednesday Russia is set to send 60,000 tons of oil, 25,000 tons of wheat and 35,000 tons of fertilizers worth $100 million through the port of Conakry.
“Following our exchanges, a first shipment of goods should arrive in Bamako in a few weeks. These include 60,000 tons of petroleum products, 35,000 tons of fertilizer and 25,000 tons of wheat,” Alousséni Sanou. Mali’s Minister of Economy and Finance said Wednesday to state-run television.
Sanou also indicated that shipments, the first, will trace all other difficulties related to trade operations between Mali and Russia.
“We have to check if all the conditions are indeed met for much larger shipments and we believe that the first orders should reach a maximum amount of $100 million,” he added.
The Malian official led on October 27 a delegation to Moscow to conduct negotiations in several economic sectors.
Russia and Mali have boosted their ties in many areas including security and defense under the leadership of President of Transition Assimi Goita who came to power last year following a coup.
