Italian FM commends Morocco’s role in Mediterranean stability as crucial
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani commended “the crucial role played by Morocco in the stability of the Mediterranean”.
In a tweet, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Tajani welcomed, during a phone talk with his Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita, the “crucial role played by Morocco in the stability of the Mediterranean, especially in the fight against terrorism.”
Tajani, former president of the European Parliament and member of the government coalition party Forza Italia, was appointed last Friday to lead the Italian diplomacy.
Morocco and Italy had concluded, in November 2019, a declaration of multidimensional strategic partnership which provides for maintaining a permanent and in-depth dialogue on all sectors of common interest, including the fight against terrorism and international crime.
This instrument of cooperation also provides for deepening dialogue and cooperation in the legal and migration field.
Rome and Rabat have repeatedly stressed the quality of their relations and their shared desire to boost bilateral cooperation in various areas and give a new dynamic to exchanges.
