COVID-19: Morocco extends state of health emergency until November 30

The Moroccan Government decided Thursday at the cabinet’s weekly meeting to extend the state of health emergency until November 30, 2022, to continue to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of measures taken by public authorities to stem the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Government Council examined and adopted a draft decree, presented by the Minister of the Interior, extending the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until November 30.

The state of health emergency, in force since March 2020 and that was scheduled to expire this October 31, seeks to preserve the progress made by Morocco in fighting the pandemic and minimize the danger related to the virus variants.

The state of health emergency enables the government to make swift, necessary decisions and update its preventive measures depending on the epidemiological situation.

The extension was decided although the number of daily cases has been continuously decreasing over the past few weeks, with few to no deaths.
