Morocco elected to two key positions in UCLG-World
Morocco was elected to two key positions within the organization United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG-World) during he 7th World Congress of the international organization, which took place this October 10 – 14 in the South Korean city of Daejeon.
The mayor of Rabat, Asmaa Rhlalou, was elected treasurer of the organization, while Mohamed Sefiani, mayor of the city of Chefchaouen, was elected Special Envoy of UCLG-World to the United Nations for food systems by the world congress that was attended by delegations from 140 countries.
The two officials were also appointed members of the presidency of UCLG-World, the highest decision-making body of the organization.
The election of the two Moroccan officials illustrates the key role that Morocco plays within this global organization.
