Morocco: ISIS operative nabbed in Casablanca in cooperation with U.S. Intelligence Services

Moroccan authorities announced on Thursday the arrest of a member of ISIS terror organization in Casablanca in cooperation with U.S. intelligence services.

The jihadist, 29, was involved in preparing a terror attack against the country’s peace and stability. Law enforcement agents searched his premise and found cell phones, SIM cards, a PC and two laptops. All these equipment are undergoing deep analysis by specialized teams.

According to a press release of National police, the captured ISIS agent was looking for safe routes to join terrorist organizations, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and on the Syrian-Iraqi borders.

He also conducted reconnaissance missions to identify security checkpoints with a view to attacking the security agents and stealing their weapons which the jihadists intend to use in terrorist operations.

His arrest shows the importance of cooperation ties existing between Moroccan security services and American law enforcement and intelligence community.

Last week, Director of U.S. National Intelligence Ms. Avril Haines visited Morocco and met Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Head of national police & domestic intelligence agency.
