Total Energies EP Congo pledges to back energy transition

Nicolas Wawresky, CEO of Total Energies EP Congo, Wednesday vowed to endorse energy transition in the central African countries with new initiatives.
Wawresky made the pledge to Isidore Mvouba, President of the Congolese National Assembly as he visited the state official, Adiac-Congo reports.
“We have mentioned two strong areas in which we want to develop, namely solar and hydroelectric power,” he said.
The French energy giant is a historical partner of the central African country and positions itself as the leading oil producer with more than 150 thousand barrels per day according to 2021 data.
The company is also planning to plant acacia trees on 40, 000 hectares in line with its carbon compensation initiative. The project will absorb 10 tons of carbon over 20 years. “Total Energies’ desire is to develop our new activities, both in our historical oil activities and in new renewable energy and carbon offset activities,” the CEO said.
