Morocco’s dates production up 30% in 2021

Morocco continues to invest to increase dates production which jumped 30% in 2021 to 127,000 tons from 90,000 a year earlier, the Moroccan agency for oases ONDZOA said.

Morocco has encouraged investments in date production to meet growing demand locally and internationally.

Most of the production is concentrated in the Tafilalet area, a region known for its breathtaking oases.

Dates plantations represent 65% of the revenue of oases and contribute to curbing rural migration and desertification.
