Morocco’s military capacities to be enhanced with Israel’s Iron Dome Shield

Israeli defense company Rafael is reportedly seeking to supply Morocco with its “Iron Dome” missile-defense system which is capable of intercepting rockets, mortars, artillery shells, aircraft, helicopters and UAVs, according to Moroccan news website Le Desk.ma.

The Israeli system would enable the Royal Armed Forces to add another defense layer for the protection of the Moroccan berm in the Sahara as well as the sensitive civilian and military sites, added the French-language news outlet.

Nearly one year after the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel, Rafael Company has expressed readiness to sell Rabat its advanced anti-missile system, said Le Desk.

The Israeli advanced anti-missile system is also used by the US Army.

Last Thursday, Spanish daily La Razón said Algeria deployed missiles near its border with Morocco which the Algerian military junta falsely blames for the death of three Algerian truck drivers in an attack carried out near the Mauritanian border.

The ministry of defense of Mauritania has flatly denied the Algerian baseless allegations, affirming that no attack or airstrike was carried out on its soil.

In his daily press briefing last Friday in New York, Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General confirmed the entry of two Algerian trucks in Northeastern Moroccan Sahara, near Bir Lahlou”.

The MINURSO “observed two trucks with Algerian license plates parked parallel to each other. Both trucks had suffered extensive damage and charring”, he underlined, without mentioning the presence of the remains of the deceased drivers or traces of a missile attack.
