AU: Morocco takes part in meeting of Permanent Representatives Committee

Morocco is taking part remotely in the 42nd Ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) of the African Union, which opened works on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.

During the meeting, the permanent representatives to AU will look into several reports related to Africa Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (Africa CDC), multilateral cooperation, AU reforms and regional integration.

They will also prepare agenda of the upcoming meeting of the AU Executive Council made of African foreign ministers.

In his opening address, the Chairperson of the AU Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat welcomed the results achieved by the Union thanks to the institutional reforms carried out by the PRC.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining a “permanent and beneficial collaboration” between the PRC and the AU Commission, noting that this collaboration is strengthened by their shared desire to place institutional reform on a path conducive to the strategic goals of Agenda 2063, which is seeking to turn Africa into a global powerhouse of the future.

The PRC is composed of the Permanent Representatives to the AU and other plenipotentiaries of Member States. It conducts the day-to-day business of the Union on behalf of the Assembly and Executive Council. It reports to the Executive Council, prepares the Council’s work and acts on its instructions
