Morocco: No holidaying abroad in 2020 for cabinet members, senior officials

Head of the Moroccan government Saad Eddine El Otmani asked cabinet members and senior officials to stay in Morocco during the summer holidays and rest of 2020.

A notice was issued in this regard with the goal of encouraging state officials to spend their holidays in Morocco to boost domestic tourism hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

The notice also urges national administrations to opt for domestic destinations for their conferences and seminars.

Morocco has adopted a series of measures to encourage domestic production in order to curb imports and save hard currency.

Public tenders will give preferential treatment to local operators using Moroccan made products.

Morocco has collected $5 billion in foreign debt to finance its balance of payments and plans to issue an international bond to keep its reserves at a comfortable level.
