Morocco Took Part in Winter Meeting of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

A Moroccan MP delegation took part in the 19th Winter Meeting of Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) held in Vienna Feb.20-21.

During the gathering, the Moroccan MPs discussed with OSCE members and partners several issues related to migration & security, the fight against terrorism & extremism, human rights, gender equality and the strategic partnership between Morocco and Europe.

The OSCE-PA winter meeting debates focused on combating anti-Semitism, discrimination and intolerance in the OSCE region. Several speakers underlined the importance of multilateral co-operation and inter-parliamentary dialogue in tackling common problems facing the region.

Hatred and intolerance pose threats to democracy, they said, voicing concern over troubling trends of discrimination against minorities and migrants.

The OSCE PA’s committees discussed issues such as how to efficiently leverage OSCE to resolve protracted conflicts, the security implications of climate change and multilateral human rights co-operation.
