UK Altus Mining Company to Dig for Zinc & Copper in Morocco
The UK-based mining exploration company Altus Strategies Plc is expanding its presence in Morocco. Through its 100% owned subsidiary Aterian Resource Ltd, this company has obtained new exploration licenses for zinc and copper in the North African Kingdom.
The new permits will enable Altus engineers to carry out exploration works in Ammas, Takzim Est and Arfa sites, totalling 87.55 km2.
Altus Chief Executive Steven Poulton said: “these strategically located exploration licenses in Morocco are an exciting addition to our exploration pipeline” The license areas were selected on the basis of their remote sensing programs across terrains considered to be prospective for zinc, copper and other base metals, he said.
Ammas consists of two exploration licenses, which cover an area of 31.75 km2 in the Guemassa Massif, 30km south of Marrakesh. The licenses have been granted to Azru Resources SARL.AU, a 100% owned subsidiary of Aterian Resource Ltd.
Takzim Est consists of three exploration licenses, which cover an area of 39.80 km2 in eastern Jebilet, 35km north of Marrakesh and 6km east of the Company’s Takzim zinc project in northern Morocco.
The licenses have been granted to Adrar Resources SARL.AU, a 100% owned subsidiary of Aterian Resource.
Arfa consists of one exploration license, which covers an area of 16 km2 in northern Morocco. The license has been granted to Azru Resources SARL.AU.
All licenses are valid for base and precious metals with an initial three-year term and can be renewed for a further term of four years.
Altus Strategies plc, through its subsidiaries, discovers, acquires, develops, and monetizes mineral deposits in Africa. The company primarily explores for gold, bauxite, copper, iron ore, zinc, and silver deposits, as well as tin deposits. It has a portfolio of projects in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Liberia, and Morocco.
