060603-N-0938S-001 Mediterranean Sea (June 2,2006) - U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Michael Rathwell instructs Algerian Sailors in the use of a .50 caliber machine gun. Rathwell is a member of 1st Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team 5th Platoon, assigned to Camp Allen, Norfolk Va., currently embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Saipan (LHA 2). Saipan is participating in a multi-national combined exercise with North African and European forces during exercise Phoenix Express. The exercise provides U.S. and allied forces an opportunity to participate in diverse maritime training scenarios helping to increase maritime domain awareness and strengthen emerging and enduring partnerships.
