Morocco, Fifth Largest Buyer of French Arms

Morocco was ranked fifth largest customer of French arms industry and the third in the Arab world after Egypt and the UAE, a report of the French defense ministry said.

The report, covering the 2007-2016 period, said that Morocco was placed fifth in the list of France’ largest customers after China, Singapore, Egypt and the UAE.

France, the world’s fourth weapon manufacturer, remains the main arms supplier for Morocco.

In 2016, France took 5% of the global arms market, which remains dominated by the US with over 57% of global sales amounting in 2016 to 217.2 billion dollars.
