Morocco-India Joint Defense Committee, which held its inaugural meeting in New Delhi this week, discussed training, education, peacekeeping, military exercises, medical cooperation, cyber defense and defense industries.
The meeting was co-chaired by Brigadier General Abdellah Athmani, Chief of the 2nd Bureau of the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces and Joint Secretary (International Cooperation), Ministry of Defense Shri Amitabh Prasad.
The two countries have agreed to further expand defense ties and explore avenues of cooperation in co-production, joint ventures, defense technology, military maintenance and sustainment, according to a press release issued by Indian ministry of Defense.
During the meeting, Indian and private defense companies presented their cutting-edge technologies. Among them, NeoSky India Limited showcased its autonomous maritime solutions and latest border surveillance innovations. The exchanges focused on the integration of artificial intelligence, anti-drone systems (C-UAS), and data interoperability.
Morocco has started producing locally India’s WhAP 8×8 armored vehicles of Tata Advanced Systems. These armored vehicles are designed to carry out a range of combat and support missions. they provide protection, mobility, and adaptability.
In 2024, Morocco reached an agreement with Tata group to locally build the WhAP 8×8 armored vehicle. The arrangement includes domestic manufacturing and adaptation of the platform to meet the operational requirements of the Moroccan Armed Forces.
