FIFA Task Force Denies Schemes to Block Morocco’s 2026 Bid

FIFA secretary general Zvonimir Boban categorically denied the rumors saying that the international body is scheming to block Morocco’s bid from reaching the vote stage on June 13.

An authorized source told le360.ma news website that “FIFA and Boban categorically deny the rumors according to which the task force has an intent to eliminate Morocco’s bid.”

The bid assessment process is ongoing. “Once examination of the two bids is complete, a detailed report on the assessment will be published,” the same source said.

Rumors circulated on social media claim that FIFA is attempting to prevent Morocco’s bid from reaching the final voting stage due to logistical issues in the Moroccan host cities.

Morocco, which is making its fifth bid to host the World Cup, has the support of the bulk of Africa and the Arab and Islamic World as well as European heavy weights. Yet, in order to win, Morocco will need the support of the majority of international football federations.
