Princess Lalla Salma Receives WHO Gold Medal

The World Health Organization (WHO) has awarded to Princess Lalla Salma, Chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, its gold medal in recognition of her action and commitment to fighting cancer in Morocco and beyond.

Princess Lalla Salma, the spouse of King Mohammed VI, is WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Promotion of Cancer Prevention and Care. Since its creation in 2005, the Lalla Salma Foundation against cancer works hand in hand with all its partners to improve patients’ care, to promote prevention and to make of the fight against cancer a public health priority in Morocco and the region.

The Foundation aims at setting up a national plan dedicated to fight cancer seeking the best clinical practices, by implementing a strategy using an innovative and participative approach adapted to the specificities of the country.

Furthermore, the Foundation made a commitment in terms of scientific research, hence multiplying partnerships in Morocco and worldwide.

The Foundation is officially recognized as a non-profit organization and pretends not to replace any public, private, nor foundation institution.
