Libyan Investment Authority achieves world’s highest growth rate among sovereign wealth funds in 2025

The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) has achieved the highest growth rate among global sovereign wealth funds in 2025, according to a report by Global SWF.

The LIA recorded an impressive 32% year-on-year growth, earning an overall score of 84% in the Governance, Sustainability, and Resilience (GSR) Scoreboard. This performance places the LIA third among Arab sovereign funds and second in Africa, reflecting its strengthened strategic vision, transparency, governance practices, and commitment to sustainable investment standards.

In a statement, the LIA attributed its success to a series of reforms implemented in recent years, including enhanced risk management, improved financial disclosures, and alignment with global best practices. The institution noted that its rise from a 4% to an 84% GSR rating over six years demonstrates its evolving adaptability and strategic discipline. The milestone also coincides with the launch of its 2025–2027 strategy, which focuses on institutionalizing governance, promoting transparency, and consolidating its position as a leading investment authority in the region and beyond.
