Moroccan army commander discusses Polisario terrorism with MINURSO

The recent failed terrorist attack by the Polisario on a civilian political rally earlier this month in Mahbes, west of the security wall, was at the heart of discussions between Moroccan inspector general and commander of the southern Zone Mohammed Berrid and the military chief of the UN mission in the Sahara, the Minurso.

The meeting in Agadir discussed the recent security developments in the region as the two parties highlighted commitment to preserve regional peace and stability, the Royal Armed Forces said on their official social media.

The Polisario has claimed responsibility for firing the projectile which fell near a big tent where dozens gathered to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Green March.

Unable to swallow a painful blow dealt by the UN Security Council in its recent resolution on the Sahara issue, Algeria seems to be emboldening the Polisario to use terrorist tactics against civilians in Morocco’s Sahara, as they did in October 2023 when they randomly fired a projectile into a residential area in Smara, killing one and damaging a house.
