African Lion 2025: Moroccan & Foreign Military Planners meet in Agadir to set program of multinational exercise
The General Staff of South Zone of the Royal Armed Forces is hosting in Agadir preparations for the “African Lion-2025”, a multinational military exercise which aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.
What started as a bilateral exercise between the U.S. Marines and the Moroccan Army has grown every year to include additional African host nations (Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia), multiple African and European partners and allies, and the entire U.S. joint and total force.
This joint, all-domain and multi-component exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO.
This year’s exercise includes combined and joint maneuvers, civil-military actions, as well as exercises aimed at countering attacks by weapons of mass destruction (Nuclear, Radiological, Biological, and Chemical).
African Lion 25 will be held from May 12 to 23, 2025, in Agadir, Tan-Tan, Kénitra, Benguerir, and Tiznit.
