Wars caused 14,300 schools in 24 African countries to shut down- study

Armed conflicts are leaving millions of African children without education as 14,300 schools had to close by June this year due to wars, The Norwegian Refugee Council said.

The Shael countries of Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger and Chad were among the worst hit along with the DRC and Cameroon.

School closure impacted at least 2.8 million African children, leaving them prey to recruitment by armed groups and gangs.

In Burkina Faso where the army has been battling Jihadist groups for years, one in four schools is closed, according to the UNICEF.
