Sahara: Australia Lawmakers’ visit to Laayoune, another blow to Algeria & its Polisario puppet

A bipartisan Australian parliamentary delegation has visited lately the Moroccan Saharan city of Laayoune sparking the anger of the Algerian rulers and Polisario militiamen who are suffering a series of diplomatic setbacks and a growing international isolation with the increasing global support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its entire Sahara.

The delegation, on a working visit to Morocco (Oct. 27-Nov. 2), includes Rowan Ramsey (Liberal Party), Steve Georganas (Labor Party), Hollie Hughes (Liberal Party), Michael McCormack (Nationals Party) and Warren Entsch (Liberal National Party).

Members of the delegation were blown away by socioeconomic development achieved by Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, its modern infrastructures (roads, hospitals, sports facilities, industrial zone, vocational training center, and medical, scientific & technology schools.

They held separate meetings with President of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra Regional Council Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid and by Governor of Laayoune province Abdeslam Bekrate.

In press statements, Rowan Eric Ramsey (Liberal Party) said the goal of the trip is to explore cooperation prospects in various sectors of common interest, lauding the impressive progress made by Morocco’s southern provinces under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.

Mrs. Hollie Hughes (Liberal party) called for strengthening partnership between the two countries, noting that their visit enabled the MPs to identify the strategic sectors offering business opportunities for Australian companies.

Prior to traveling to the Moroccan Sahara, members of the Australian delegation were received by Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami. Talks focused on bilateral relations between Morocco and Australia and cooperation ties between two countries legislative institutions.
