Morocco has expressed condolences to the Iranian people and to the families of the victims of the helicopter crash that claimed the life of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other senior officials.
The Kingdom of Morocco expressed its sincere condolences on Monday, May 20, to the Iranian people and the families of the victims of the helicopter crash that claimed the life of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, and several officials, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Ibrahim Raisi’s aircraft, which also carried nine other officials, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, went missing in Iran’s mountainous northwestern region near the Azerbaijan border on Sunday. Rescue teams later on found the aircraft wreckage and the victims’ bodies.
The 63-year-old was at the helm of the country for nearly three years, and appeared on track to run for re-election next year.
