Canada’s Shimco to set up plant in Morocco’s aerospace industry hub
Canada’s Shimco, a manufacturer serving the global aerospace supply chain, said it plans to have a plant in Morocco.
A deal was signed to that end with Morocco’s industrial hub Midparc to join a constellation of global aeronautical suppliers in Nouacauer industrial zone in Casablanca.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, attended by Moroccan industry minister, head of Midparc Hamid Ben Brahim El Andalousi said Shimco stands to tap into the quality, competitiveness and resilience of the Moroccan aeronautical industry cluster.
The plant would cover 1300m2 and is set to expand two-folds in the coming three years and to triple in the next seven years, he said.
He underscored the demand on airplane parts made in Morocco from global giants such as Airbus and Boeing covering the next 10 years.
Head of Shimco Peter Voss said Morocco had a competitive offer in terms of production cost, adding that the company plans to double its output within the next three years.
