Moroccan Sahara: Malawi Reaffirms Support for Kingdom’s Territorial Integrity and Autonomy Initiative as Sole Credible Solution
On Monday in Rabat, Nancy Tembo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi, reiterated her country’s unwavering support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
This stance was conveyed through a joint statement issued following a meeting between the Malawian official and her Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita.
Malawi firmly supports the Kingdom of Morocco’s territorial integrity and endorses the United Nations as the exclusive framework for achieving a political, realistic, practical, and lasting solution to the Sahara dispute.
The country also restated its steadfast backing for the Autonomy Initiative, presented by Morocco, as the singular credible and realistic resolution to address this longstanding dispute.
During her official visit to Morocco from December 17-21, where she inaugurated her country’s Embassy in Rabat and operationalized its General Consulate in Laayoune, Malawi’s top diplomat announced plans to visit the southern provinces. This visit provides an opportunity to witness the economic, social, political, and democratic advancements taking place in the region.
Furthermore, the visit aims to explore the progress made in implementing the New Development Model for the Southern Provinces, initiated in 2015 by King Mohammed VI.
