European Parliament: Head of French Senate Foreign Affairs Committee slams anti-Moroccan campaign
Chairman of French Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Christian Cambon, has denounced the recent vote by the Macronist members of the European Parliament of a resolution undermining Morocco’s judicial sovereignty and independence.
In a press release, Mr. Cambon, who also chairs France-Morocco Friendship Group in the French Senate, decried the vote of French MEPs who supported and stood “with the usual adversaries of Morocco”.
While France, at its highest levels, “is endeavoring to give a new impetus to the French-Moroccan relationship, some French MEPs close to the majority joined their voices to the usual opponents of Morocco”, he added, expressing his steadfast commitment to press freedom in all countries.
France-Morocco Friendship Group “will continue to work for the strengthening of relations with Morocco in all areas”, said Mr. Christian Cambon, describing the North African Kingdom as “most reliable partner and ally engaged for peace” in this region.
Following the EP hostile resolution passed within the frame of an orchestrated smear campaign, the Moroccan Parliament decided to re-assess its relations and partnership with the European legislative body.
