Football: FIFA & CAF Chiefs in Morocco for Club World Cup Draw
FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Head of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe arrived this Friday in Morocco to attend the draw of the Club World Cup due in the North African Kingdom between 1-11 February.
The two top football officials arrived at the Rabat-Salé airport coming aboard a private jet from Algeria. At the airport, they saw the plane of Royal Air Maroc, which was to fly the Moroccan team of local players under 23, waiting for the green light from the Algerian authorities to take off for Constantine to defend their African Nations Champion title.
The Morocco 2022 draw of FIFA club world cup will take place this Friday at Mohammed VI football academy which produced stars that illuminated the Qatar’s world cup tournament.
In the clubs draw, Auckland City, Al Ahly, Al Hilal, Flamengo, Real Madrid, Seattle Sounders and Wydad will find out their potential paths to the trophy.
African legend Nourredine Naybet will act as a Morocco 2022 draw assistant. Formerly a stylish center-back, Naybet began his career with a trophy-laden spell at Wydad before impressing in France, Portugal, Spain and England, most famously helping Deportivo win La Liga and reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Naybet also represented Morocco in two FIFA World Cups.
