Gabon, South Korea mull cooperation in forest, carbon credit management
Gabon President Ali Bongo Ondimba held talks Monday on the sidelines of the COP27 in Egypt, with Korea’s Special Envoy for Climate Hon Na Kyung-Won on the possibility of both countries cooperating in forest and carbon credit management, Gabo Review reports.
The Gabon leader and Kyung-Won also addressed Korea’s various investment opportunities in infrastructure, among other sectors in the central African country.
Forests in the central African country absorb close to 100 million tons of CO2 per annum, accounting for a third of the carbon emitted by a country like France.
The performance makes Gabon, one of the leading global countries in terms of carbon credit and CO2 capture.
