COVID-19: Morocco cancels cultural & artistic events as omicron continues to spread worldwide
Moroccan authorities decided on Friday to cancel all cultural and artistic events as the new coronavirus variant Omicron continues to spread around the world.
The new measure comes after they have suspended all incoming passengers’ flights and ferries for two weeks, while the number of attendees at funerals has been reduced to maximum ten people to prevent spread of the new strain.
Nov.25, the Moroccan Govt. decided to extend COVID-19 health emergency until December 31 to preserve the progress achieved in the fight against the pandemic and reduce the risks of contamination by the virus variants.
To date, over 22.7 million people have been fully vaccinated in Morocco, 24.4 million received their first dose of the vaccine, while over 1.7 million others got their third booster jab.
The Moroccan government urges citizens to get immunized and to continue to respect anti-covid health guidelines including social distancing, face-mask wearing and regular hand-washing to preserve the gains accomplished in the fight against the pandemic and contribute to the gradual return to normal life.
