Tanzania: UN backs 4th SADC Industrialization Week
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has announced that it will support Tanzania in hosting the 4th Southern African Development Community (SADC) industrialization week next month.
Tanzania will host the 4th SADC Industrialization Week August 5-9 under the theme: “A Conducive Business Environment for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development.”
According to Stephen Kargbo, UNIDO Representative to Tanzania, Mauritius and East Africa Community, the organization is ready to offer support to the event as well as Tanzania’s own industrialization aspirations.
He said the government of Tanzania is on the right track as far as industrialization and development is concerned, thus UNIDO is ready to work with all stakeholders to achieve the aspirations.
The SADC Council of Ministers endorsed the convening of the annual SADC Industrialization Week to intensify engagement with various partners, including the private sector in order to accelerate the implementation of the SADC Industrialization Strategy and Roadmap.
The SADC Industrialization Week is a public-private engagement platform that helps to foster new opportunities for intra-African trade and investment in the southern African region.
Last year, the SADC Industrialization Week was held in Windhoek, Namibia under the theme: Promoting Infrastructure Development and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development.
