Aeronautics: Thyssenkrupp to Open Processing & Logistic Site in Morocco

German Group thyssenkrupp Aerospace will open a processing and logistics center in Casablanca before the end of the year, confirming the momentum of Morocco’s aerospace industry which continues to attract foreign investors.
Mr. Patrick Marous, CEO thyssenkrupp Aerospace, said the Casablanca site will enable thyssenkrupp to supply its local customers with the required materials and services.

On around 3,500 m² (warehouse, production hall and offices) located in Ouled Salah area, between Casablanca downtown and the airport, new jobs will be created to address customer wishes and requirements.

Besides the storage of materials such as aluminum, steel and copper in various shapes and alloys, the center will also process materials. Modern machinery cuts the materials precisely to customer specifications for just-in-time delivery to the customer´s facilities.

“Morocco’s aerospace industry is booming. With an annual growth rate of over 15 percent, it is a significant driving force behind the nation’s economy”, said CEO thyssenkrupp, affirming that this encouraging development is also fueling demand for local material suppliers and service providers.

“This is a trend we identified early on, and we will be commissioning our highly modern materials processing and logistics center in Casablanca before the end of the year, so that we can supply our local customers with the required materials and services,” he added.

For his part, Eric Cornilleau, Managing Director thyssenkrupp Aerospace France said: “it is not only the French aviation industry that is investing in Morocco and we are pleased to be able to show our presence there for our customers from France and to further expand our global partnerships there as well”.

Moroccan aerospace industry is growing rapidly thanks to incentives granted to investors, proximity to Europe, stability and political will to make this sector a driving force of economic growth and development.

It has attracted some big aeronautics investors in recent years, including Bombardier, Eaton Corp, Boeing… The aeronautic industry in Morocco, which employs 11,500 people and achieved last year exports worth $1bn, has been growing at 15 per cent a year.

The aim is to reach 23,000 jobs by 2020, increase exports to $1.6bn per year and increase to 35 per cent the proportion of locally-produced or assembled components.
