Political Parties Underscore Relevance of King’s Speech
Moroccan political parties stressed the relevance of the speech to the Nation delivered by King Mohammed VI in setting clear-cut priorities to achieve efficient social and economic reforms while safeguarding Morocco’s unity and stability.
King Mohammed VI who gave his speech from Al Hoceima Sunday called for social and economic reforms to improve the living conditions of citizens and urged political parties to renew their elites and do more to encourage the youth.
Liberal RNI party welcomed the King’s instructions in terms of the need to coordinate social programs between government agencies across the Kingdom.
The party, led by Billionaire Agriculture Minister Aziz Akhannouch, highlighted the speech as laying the basis for a social project providing for better targeting and facilitating investments.
The opposition Istiqlal party said the speech was a call for political parties to find new means to mobilize in order to implement a common social project that matches the aspirations of citizens.
Nabila Mounib, Secretary General of the leftist PSU party said the speech underscores the paramount importance of the social dialogue between the government and labor unions.
She said social dialogue is meant to defuse the “social crisis” and find solutions for workers.
She added that the speech also urges urgent solutions to pressing issues such as the inefficiency of the public administration and corruption.
For their parts, leaders of main labor unions welcomed the speech as a call for the government and unions to find common ground for the success of the social dialogue.
